New Terminal at Antigua and Barbuda’s VC Bird International Airport

Image
Antigua and Barbuda’s VC Bird International Airport has become one of the most modern gateways in the Caribbean following the opening of its new terminal.

The $100 million terminal – funded and financed in partnership with the Chinese government – will equip the airport to handle more than double the 800,000 passengers handled at the old terminal.

Antigua and Barbuda is already the most inter-connected nation in the Caribbean, primarily due home-base carrier LIAT, and the new terminal means that VC Bird International Airport is now the largest gateway in the Eastern Caribbean.

New features include; four jet bridges, a state of the art baggage sorting and scanning system, faster immigration processing times and user friendly innovations and features.

The airport claims that the new terminal will greatly improve the passenger experience and ensure that visitors get to spend even more time on one of Antigua and Barbuda’s 365 beaches.

Europe's 10 cheapest cities to visit

Image
As we live in a age of austerity with the continental countries of Europe facing unprecedented EU challenges, such as escalating inflation rates, higher VAT and with the general impact of the credit crunch and import costs, future tourists are starting to look carefully which destination offers the best value for summer 2013 or a winter break.
Here below is the updated list of Europe's 10 cheapest major cities to visit.
The greatest surprise on the list is London, which due to the fact it is outside the EU prices are relatively falling enabling it to reach Europe's bargain hotspot top 10 for the first time in 5 years. This is good news for Olympic Games visitors, however we must balance this information with the recent increase in exchange between the euro and the Pound Sterling, making it more expensive to buy GB Pounds now than in the last 5 years or so.
It's interesting to see that London is sixth on the list and the Norwegian capital Oslo last.

International Contemporary Dance Festival of the Canary Islands – Spain

Image
Description
The International Contemporary Dance Festival of the Canary Islands, MASDANZA, was born in Gran Canaria, in 1996. It is the result of the initiative of its Director from the very beginning, Natalia Medina, with the support of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The Department recognised and supported this initiative, with the intention of covering an important cultural space that had not been included previously in the agenda of any public or private institution in the Canaries.

Since its first beginnings in 1996, MASDANZA has consolidated itself year after year, going from a small regional festival, to national by the second, and then on to international from its sixth edition until now, spreading beyond our national borders and open to the participation of international choreographers and dancers.

The hypocritical reality of the EU and Western Governments on Tax enforcement

Image
No doubt most citizens of Europe have noticed an ongoing trend, whereby Governments in league with the European Union and other Western countries are focusing Media attention and propaganda efforts on "Tax Evasion" and "Tax Avoidance". The goal here seems to be on focusing a complicit mainstream media on stirring up hatred (thereby dividing an conquering) towards productive individuals and companies from legally, creatively or otherwise from avoiding taxes. This of course is a distraction to stimulate emotions on the topic and channel the sentiment towards paying Taxes.

Of course at no point during such media exposure centered on Tax avoidance does the mainstream media indicate within the same article or sentence, the utter abuse of Taxpayers money that is occurring within the EU and across many countries in the western world. To name just a few, Illegal or immoral wars, bank bail-outs, corruption in Politics, scandalous expenses of Politicians and commissioners,…

Location based services can increase airport efficiency

Image
Using location based services can increase airport efficiency and boost customer satisfaction levels and revenues, writes Walkbase CMO, Juha Mattsson.

It’s summer which only means one thing in the UK – holiday season.

Last year over four million passengers travelled through Edinburgh Airport in the four months between June and September – making it the busiest summer ever.

And Heathrow Europe’s busiest airport, had its busiest day on record on 17th August 2014 with 241,412 passing through its gates. You have got to hand it to the Brits; they sure do love a holiday.

As the masses stock up on suntan lotion, don their Ray Bans and fedoras and head off for a week of sun, sea and sand – have airports got themselves ready of the summer?

We now live in a world where everything is becoming more connected, changing the way we live, travel and operate business. With consumers owning more devices than ever before, it’s becoming even easier to be connected with other people and the online world.

Graffiti artist brightens up wall at Frankfurt Airport

Image
Graffiti is not usually a welcome addition to buildings and pavements, but Frankfurt Airport has made an exception by calling in a celebrated artist to use it to decorate one of its most viewed sites – a 320 metre long wall next to the bus station by Terminal 1.

And celebrated artist Helge 'Bomber' Steinmann has done them proud with his eye-catching graffiti work that depicts different views of Frankfurt.

Among the 15m high x 20m wide images on his 'canvass' are the Römer city hall and Alte Oper (Old Opera) concert hall.

He also pays homage to the city's football team, Eintracht Frankfurt, and the zoo. According to the gateway, "the somewhat unusual piece of artwork culminates in a depiction of Frankfurt Airport at the eastern end of the mural".

Operator, Fraport AG, views the mural as a celebration of the city of Frankfurt, claiming that guests from all over the globe need take only one look at the mural to immediately recognise that they have arriv…
