Sydney Mardi Gras 2014

Image
Where: Oxford Street, Sydney, Australia

When: A parade in early March

What started in 1978 as a defiant civil rights march has become one of Australia’s proudest celebrations of diversity, attended by half a million locals and thousands of visitors from around the world. The shenanigans last for a stupendous month of sports, theatre, comedy, cabaret, film, literature and parties, such as the noteworthy Sleaze Ball side event (to some it’s the main event). This is the occasion for gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and queer Sydneysiders to shine their nipple clamps and comb their merkins for the stardust magic of sleaze.

Incredible Libraries Around the World!

Image
Once in a while, you have to sit back, relax and read a good book. Sounds easy, doesn't it? But for most people, the act of reading a book depends entirely on the environment. Some prefer the privacy of their bedrooms; others prefer the surrounding nature in their garden or the gentle bustle of a cafe.

Yet some others find the most relaxation within libraries where the very smell of books permeates the air. You may find below a selection of libraries handpicked by Perpetual Traveller Overseas that are not only a feast for the eyes, but also a place of relaxation and quiet meditation where you can easily find your own personal "zone" that enables you to sink into the pages of a book.

Cheap flights and their principles - Why are they so cheap?

Image

Europe's 10 cheapest cities to visit

Image
As we live in a age of austerity with the continental countries of Europe facing unprecedented EU challenges, such as escalating inflation rates, higher VAT and with the general impact of the credit crunch and import costs, future tourists are starting to look carefully which destination offers the best value for summer 2013 or a winter break.
Here below is the updated list of Europe's 10 cheapest major cities to visit.
The greatest surprise on the list is London, which due to the fact it is outside the EU prices are relatively falling enabling it to reach Europe's bargain hotspot top 10 for the first time in 5 years. This is good news for Olympic Games visitors, however we must balance this information with the recent increase in exchange between the euro and the Pound Sterling, making it more expensive to buy GB Pounds now than in the last 5 years or so.
It's interesting to see that London is sixth on the list and the Norwegian capital Oslo last.
