U.S. and Mexico Bolster Bilateral Border and Aviation Security

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano was in Mexico Tuesday (3/23) to sign two arrangements to bolster aviation and border security between the United States and Mexico.

The first arrangement establishes with Mexico a Joint Security Program for Travelers (JSP) for Mexico City International Airport. A JSP is passenger information sharing program between the United States and participating countries that aids in the identification of potential terrorists or other dangerous criminals.

And the second arrangement enables DHS to electronically share some criminal history information with Mexican law enforcement about Mexican nationals who have been convicted of certain felonies in the U.S. and are being repatriated back to Mexico.
